The Sand Hills Trail in Kane County is a great trail to explore and familiarize yourself with the Sand Hills near Kanab. This trail takes you about 25 miles through the gorgeous landscape of Southern Utah. This trail takes you right to an incredible slot canyon. The Peekaboo canyon is a great place to check out if you’re looking to see a great slot canyon while avoiding the crowds. This OHV trail also leads you to the Hiking trailhead for Elkheart Cliffs Slot Canyon. This is another great slot canyon, if you feel like doing a bit of hiking.
The terrain is mostly comprised of sand and rocky trails.
This trail provides great opportunities to stop, get out, and take in the views.

There is plenty of parking and a restroom here at the Red Canyon Slot Trailhead.
We head Northeast out of the parking lot.
The majority of this trail is very sandy so be prepared for that. We stay to the left here.
Here we are at the mouth of the slot canyons. You can park here and get out to explore the canyons. This is a dead end so you’ll have to do some back tracking to continue on the trail.
There are trailmarkers along the way to keep you headed in the right direction. This trail takes you up around The Sand Hills and toward Elkheart Cliffs Slot Canyon Trailhead.
There is a lot of beautiful scenery along this trail.
This is the trailhead for the Elkheart Slot canyon hike. It takes off down the hill just to the right of the powerline pole.
